Obituary for Arnold S. Gamboa

Arnold S. Gamboa, age 56, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, with his family lovingly by his side.
Born June 7th, 1967 to Zenaida (Salita) and Fulvio Gamboa, Arnold lived his rambunctious early life in Quezon City, Philippines, with his older brother Ronald and among many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends nearby. On a regular basis, you could find Arnold, along with Ronald, and a band of other children in the neighborhood, getting in to whatever they could, including one of their favorite things – climbing up trees and enjoying the fruit they bear like mangos and papayas.

Searching for more opportunities, the family immigrated to America in 1973, landing in Vineland, NJ, where other family members resided. Spending most of his childhood and adolescence in Vineland, Arnold learned to speak English primarily from mimicking his cousins, Conrad and Ed, who were close in age. He played baseball and enjoyed many years on the Scalfo Electric Little League Team. Arnold was recognized for his academic aptitude, attending a gifted and talented program until moving on to high school at Vineland High School.

In 1985, the family moved and rooted themselves in Mays Landing, NJ, remaining there until 2017. Arnold finished high school at Oakcrest High School graduating in 1986. He went on to attend college at Stockton State College, opting to enter the workforce full-time after completing one and a half years. Working over 35 years, he held a myriad of positions spanning across a few different industries, with his last role as a coordinator for a large home improvement retailer.
Arnold was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart. His grumpy exterior was just a façade. He truly loved his family and they always came first. The kids, in particular, brought a certain joy that was unmatched. He also had a soft spot for the staff that cared for him at the DaVita Center in Millville. He was generous and loyal. He had your back no matter what and would give you his last dollar. He was full to the brim with knowledge, especially about sports – a self-professed sports guru.

Arnold devoutly followed all of the Philadelphia sports teams – usually enjoying the games from the comfort of his recliner, but was also fond of attending games in person, especially with family. In his teenage years and 20’s, Arnold liked to play basketball and tennis, but later transitioned to golf. He really enjoyed family gatherings, whether celebrating a birthday, a special life event or the holidays, but he particularly liked BBQs, where he would delight in a game of horseshoes or cornhole. His secret indulgences were watching shows like the “Masked Singer” or the “Challenge”.

Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Fulvio Gamboa and Zenaida (Salita) Gamboa. He is survived by his siblings Ronald Gamboa and wife Christine (Aldrich) Gamboa and Aileen Seigfried and husband Jason Seigfried, his nephew and godson Corey Gamboa, along with, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A mass will be held on Saturday, January 6th, 2024 at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08361, with visitation from 1-2pm. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
