Obituary for Barbara J. Mallory

Barbara Jean Mallory, 91, of Williamstown, passed away at home on Friday, December 9, after an extended illness. She was born in McBee, South Carolina on July 18, 1931 and was the youngest of nine children, born to the late Harrison and Matilda (Aldrich) Dixon. Barbara was the wife of the late John Milton Mallory.

She was educated in schools in South Carolina until her family moved to Mizpah, NJ, in 1947. She held various jobs in the area including school bus driver for the Buena Regional School District. Those attending these schools throughout the 1970s knew that Bus #1 was Mrs. Mallory. The family moved to Wayne, PA, in 1980 where she became a member of Zion Baptist Church, Ardmore, PA and was a bus driver for the Lower Merion School District. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Williamstown and became members of First Baptist Church, Richland.

Barbara was loved by all who knew her and she was fondly referred to as “Aunt Bobbie” by her numerous nieces and nephews. She loved baking pies as Christmas presents for her neighbors no matter where she lived. She was a good wife, mother and friend. If you needed someone to pray for you and with you, she was the “go to” person. She will be missed.

She is survived by five sons, Lee (Yong) of Fayetteville, GA, John of Mays Landing, Steven (Sarah) of Egg Harbor Township, Dean of King of Prussia, PA, and Dana who has been her primary caregiver, of Hammonton; and one daughter, Barbara Voss of Williamsport, PA. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Stone of Minotola, as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A service will be held Saturday, December 17, at Union Baptist Temple, 29 Martin Luther King Way, Bridgeton, NJ, at 10:30 am, with visitation from 9:30-10:30am. Burial will be private.
