Obituary for Bettie Juanita Reina

Bettie Juanita Reina (Bomar), 87, of Mays Landing, passed away on April 3, 2023 at home, while sitting next to her husband of 56 years, after a courageous struggle with ALS. Although ALS started to affect her years ago, the last six months were her toughest moments. With that said, she still managed to wag her finger and shake her head at her beloved Nick, correcting him one last time just a couple days before she passed. She is in a far better state than she spent her last years here on earth and is now at Peace.

Bettie was born Dec. 11, 1935 to Ruben and Teela (Gregg) Bomar in Parma MO. Bettie graduated Kean College in 1985, with a BA in Fine Arts and worked as an Interior Designer/Decorator. She was active in the Atlantic County Democratic Committee. She married Nick Reina on May 5, 1967. Throughout her life she lived in Milmay NJ, Buckingham PA, Apalachicola Fl, Berkeley Heights NJ, Short Hills NJ, Maplewood NJ, and Dearborn MI.

Bettie was predeceased by both parents and her sister Anita Millar (Bomar). She is survived by her husband Nick, son James and his wife Christine (Chambers) Reina, her granddaughter Sarah and step-granddaughter Rebekah.

Her illness took a toll on all of our lives, but mostly dad’s (Nick’s).

There are no services planned at this time, however, we will share an opportunity to honor both Mom and Dad in the future, and will celebrate their lives together.
