Obituary for Catherine Cornew

Catherine Cornew, 66, of Estell Manor NJ, passed away on Wednesday, November 2nd at Atlanticare Mainland Campus surrounded by loved ones. Born June 9th ,1956, in Atlantic City NJ, she is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Jane McGee of Pleasantville, NJ, her sister Norma Farmer, of Melbourne, FL and her brother James McGee, of Somers Point, NJ.

Cathy was a homemaker who loved her family and enjoyed making memories with them. She was an outgoing, extremely loving hu-man being and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her personally, through her work as a tax clerk, or various social groups in which she was a long standing member, including St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Marmora and the order of Secular Franciscans. Cathy was a woman of unwavering faith in God, as evidenced by her years of teaching youth Catechism through the church, as well as her years of dedication to the Secular Franciscans and passion for bringing musical contributions to Sunday Mass. Cathy had a passion for arts and crafts, particularly painting, where her unwavering faith in God was clearly portrayed, as she recognized that God is present in all we do and see.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jeffrey Sr., of 46 years, her 3 children, Aline Cornew-Carroll, Jeffrey Cornew Jr., Michael Cornew, her 3 grandchildren, Ava Cornew, Margaret Cornew, Eliza-beth Cornew, her brother Thomas McGee, her 4 sisters Regina Ire-land, Ann Laughlin, Grace McGee, Margaret Kowalchyk and many nieces and nephews.

Cathy’s life will be celebrated on November 10th, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Marmora, with a gathering of friends from 9:30-11am and mass to immediately follow. Burial services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
