Daniel Joseph Ashley, Sr., Dec. 31. 1958 – Dec. 31, 2022
Daniel Joseph Ashley, Sr., passed away December 31, 2022. He was born on December 31, 1958 in Pittsburgh, PA, to James and Willa Ashley. His parents relocated their family to East Vineland and later settled in Mizpah, New Jersey, where he resided for the remainder of his life. Daniel was educated by the Hamilton Township Public School System and graduated from Oakcrest High School.
At a very young age he was mentored in the field of auto mechanics by his late Uncle Carlos Cortez, Sr. Daniel became very proficient in the field and continued to work on vehicles his entire adult life. He later trained and became a licensed CDL Class A truck driver and drove for several trucking companies in the South Jersey Region.
In 1983 Daniel was joined in holy matrimony with Sylvia Range and they had two children; Ateasha and Daniel. Daniel leaves to mourn his memory, his mother Willa Ashley; daughter Ateasha (Garen) Baltodano; son Daniel (Damaris) J. Ashley, Jr; grandson Tristen Baltodano; granddaughters Niyah Baltodano, Syriana Baltodano, Mariah Ashley; Longtime companion, Helen Massey; brothers Johnathan M. (Iris) Ashley, Michael Ashley and Anthony (Danielle) Ashley, Sr.; sisters Wanda Loatman; Brenda Ashley; Mischelle Ashley Smith and Shawn Ashley; his Aunt Adelia Woods; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues and associates. Daniel was a hard-working man who loved his family and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be sorely missed.
A service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ at 2pm with a gathering from 1-2pm. Info and condolences: www.boakesfuneralhome.com
