Diane Bernadette (Virden) Borden peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 3rd surrounded by her family. She was born on December 13th, 1940 to Joseph George Virden and Nina (June) Virden in Atlantic City, NJ. Diane attended Pleasantville High School Class of 1959 where she met her beloved husband of 60 years, Lorenzo Borden III. She was employed at Woolworth’s, McCory’s, NJ Bell Telephone, Peter’s Lumber, Boardwalk National Bank, Guenther’s Mobile and retired after a 27-year career as a Confidential Secretary to the Superintendent at Mainland Regional High School. Diane was a member of both St. Pete’s and St. Bernadette’s church. She loved playing sports, was a co-founder of Pleasant Woods Girls Softball League and coached her children and grandchildren. Her favorite place to be was the beach.

Diane was predeceased by her parents June and Joseph Virden, Stepfather Otto mueller, sisters Cass Watts and Marion Weisbecker (Lou) and brother Jimmy Virden.

Diane leaves behind her husband Lorenzo Borden III, son Lorenzo Borden IV (Tara), daughters Kelly Cox (Larry), Dianalyn Reed (Scott), Shanyn Borden (Blue). Grandchildren Michael Jordan (Kerri) Nicholas Borden (Kelly) Kyle Reed (Laura) Krystall Biel (Jon) Joseph Borden (Nicole) Tayler Reed Tori Borden (Armando) Eryn Reed (Bubba). Great grandchildren Kaila, Savannah, Nathan, Mason, and Finley, nieces and nephews Larry, Linda, Gary, Sue, Jimmy Donna, Scott and other relatives Larry Watts, Kathy Dumas, Derek Tuohy, Isabelle Meloro, Ree Taggert, Denise Kellner, Mike Meloro. A pass-through viewing to pay your respects to the family will be held Monday February 8th from 9:30 – 11 AM the at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing NJ. Service will be private. Burial open to friends and family, at approximately 12:30 pm, at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery.
