Obituary for Felton A. Blackwell Jr.

Felton Alfonso Blackwell, Jr., affectionately known to many as Mouse(y), age 54, formerly of Mizpah, NJ, transitioned on November 5, 2022 in Maryland to his Creator.

Felton was born on November 11, 1967 in Vineland, NJ. He resided in South Jersey most of his life and he would later relocate to Maryland where he remained until he entered into eternal peace.

Felton was born to the late Bishop Felton A. Blackwell, Sr. and Frances Blackwell.

Felton graduated from Oakcrest High School, Mays Landing, NJ in 1986. He would at that time begin a lifelong career in the Construction Industry. Felton was lastly employed by Gilbane Building Corp, of Philadelphia, Pa as a Foreman. He was also an active member of LIUNA DC Local Union 11A. Felton was very skilled in his line of work and was proud of his accomplishments.

Felton as we all know did what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted. He faced many battles in this life, however, he always knew the power of God. Through his faith and trust in The Most High, he was able to overcome. Throughout his journey he was loved and supported by his “Tribe.”

Felton was a part of the “Morning Club,” where he would facetime the morning crew almost daily to chat, laugh and pray. The morning crew consisted of his siblings, Melvin, Chanel, Shawn, Mom and his adoring Aunt Eleanor. Felton also shared some intimate moments and daily conversations with his mentor, confidant, friend and Uncle Barry Ford. He shared a very special bond with his cousin Wanda Picott.

He enjoyed watching action movies and crime shows and an occasional laugh watching Martin. He loved old school R&B and Gospel Music. His favorite artist was Fred Hammond. He loved Butter Pecan Ice Cream and cheating while playing cards. His sense of style was impeccable, and he loved to smell good and look even better, “you couldn't tell him nothing.” And when it came to making any kind of sandwich, hands down he did it best.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Edna Blackwell, whom he cherished, and his best friend Sidney Reed.

Felton loved his family. He is survived by his lifelong love Samirah. His children Scott (Tameka), Brandon (Chanel), Felton III, and his only daughter the youngest Fatimah. He had four grandkings, whom he affectionately called Son-sons, Son- son #1 Jameer, Son-son #2 Elijah, Son-son #3 Scott Jr, Son-son #4 Kason and his only granddaughter, whom he affectionately called Itty-Bitty, Naomi Reign.

He is survived by his loving mother Frances Blackwell; his siblings Melvin (Cheryl) Blackwell of Gary, North Carolina, Chanel Blackwell-Johnson of Mizpah, NJ and Shawn (Donna) Blackwell of Detroit, Michigan. Also he leaves to mourn his Uncle Barry (Mable) Ford and his Aunts; Antoinette Ford, Eleanor Godbold, Ethel McNeil, and his Grand-aunt Elaine Johnson.

He leaves loving memories with his nieces Courtney Bullock, Nya Bullock and a special niece Amanda Camper. As well as his adored nephews Kelly (KJ) and Kyle Johnson. His Godson Zakir Parker, and a host of cousins and friends. Rest in Power King!
