Obituary for Florence M. Brandt

Florence “Pal” Brandt, Nee Furey, passed away on April 17, 2023. She was the wife of late husbands William M. Sloan of Somers Point, Edward Brandt of Somers Point and Anthony Gatto of Phila.

Aunt of Late Marie Elsie Costa, whom she raised as her own since an infant.

Predeceased by her parents Charles and Elsie Furey, siblings Evelyn, Elsie, Charles, Robert and Raymond along with niece Evelyn (Frosty).

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was proud of them and loved them all.

She was a member of S.M.H. Ladies Auxiliary since 1977, and many other clubs including Senior Club in Somers Point, Senior Citizens Club at St. Bernadettes, The Bunco Club, and Walking Club. She entertained ladies from the Weiler Group Home and Staff at her home having Christmas and birthday parties, refreshments, gifts, and pictures with Santa Claus. That’s why they all call her Pal. She was a member of the ARC.

She worked at Daniel's Restaurant in Somers Point and the Port-O-Call in Ocean City as a waitress and hostess.

She loved to travel with her husband Bill Sloan all over the U.S. and Canada. She loved going to the racetracks, especially the Kentucky Derby. She loved the Philadelphia Mummers and danced the Mummers Strut.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 20th from 6pm to 7pm at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ, with a service at 7pm. Entombment at Fernwood Cemetery, 6501 E. Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA 19050 on Friday, April 21st at 11:30am.
