Obituary for Frank R. Abel
Frank Abel, 81, of Egg Harbor Township and Mays Landing, NJ passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on February 25, 2023. He was born on June 15, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to S. Walter and Marie Abel. He graduated from Collingswood High School.
Frank proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Boston as a radioman and enjoyed attending reunions throughout the years. Frank worked as a bookkeeper for Abbott’s Dairy in Philadelphia and then Magic Disposal until he retired. Frank was a quiet, hardworking man. He enjoyed reading, camping, working out at the gym, traveling, dancing, bocce ball, and going to the casinos.
Frank is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, and his brothers, Walter and Edward. He is survived by his daughter, Chandra Anderson (husband Mike), his grandchildren, Tyler and Cody, along with nieces and nephews. Frank is also survived by his longtime companion, Margaret Piil, with whom he had a collaborative and caring relationship.
A memorial will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 pm, on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ. Burial will follow at the Atlantic County Veteran’s Cemetery in Estell Manor.
