Obituary for Gilbert J. Boyer

Gilbert (Gil) Boyer, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2023. He was born on March 16, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Gil was a hard-working man with strong work ethics. Immediately after graduating from North Catholic High School, Gil enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve in as a sergeant in the Korean War. Upon return from the war in 1955, Gil married his wife, Trudy. Gil raised his children with his wife of 66 years in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. Gil was very social and always there to make people laugh. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and he participated in worship at Trudy’s church First United Methodist Church of Mays Landing with Trudy. Gil was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed leading military ceremonies and parades, as well as Friday evening dinner at the VFW in Somers Point, New Jersey, with his friends.

Loving husband and father, Gil is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Miller, son, Wayne (Vicki) Boyer, his five grandchildren, Bryan Thomas, Jeffrey Grossman, Andrea (Nathan) Beck, Michelle (Benjamin) McGuire, Alexis Miller, four great grandchildren, Colton Beck, Connor Beck, Sadie Beck, Melody McGuire, and his brother, Ronald (Christine) Boyer.

In addition to his parents, Gil is predeceased by his, Gertude (Trudy) Boyer and his daughter, Judy.

Gil requested to be cremated. A service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ. Family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a service held at 11 a.m.
As a Military Veteran, Gil’s ashes will be interred with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA, at a later date, along with his wife, Trudy’s ashes.

Flowers are welcome or a memorial contribution can be made to the “Disabled American Veterans”.
