Obituary for Jessica A Westcott

On Friday, October 21, 2022, Jessica Ann Westcott, known to many as ‘Mom Mom’ died peacefully at home at the age of 67 surrounded by family.

Jessica was predeceased by her parents: William and Elsie Wilson; her aunt Anna Krauss; her godfather Jesse Bates; and her in-laws Adam and Lois Westcott. She was the loving wife of 40 years to Raymond Westcott; mother to Daniel (Yahaira Palacio), Kathleen, and Laurie (Chuck Simmers); grandmother to Zachary (Amanda) Westcott, Francesca Palacio, Raymond Westcott, Sara Ann Westcott, and Jessica Westcott; and great-grandmother to Roman Westcott. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (Mark) Romeo, and her in-laws: Ruthie Ferrigno, Susan Brown, Sandra Barrett, Faith Westcott, Bill Westcott, James Westcott, and Paul Westcott.

Jessica lived and worked in South Jersey her whole life. She graduated from Absegami HS in 1974 and then from ACCC, obtaining her nursing degree in 1982. She worked for AtlantiCare as a Registered Nurse in the Labor/Delivery Dept., first at the Atlantic City location, then at Mainland Regional for 30 plus years. This is where she made lifelong friendships including Dr. Bergen, Joe Hardiman, Mary (Sue Venesz), Sue Selfridge, Bing Marcon, Florence, Sharon Mol, Zelma Vega and Ellen Clark, just to name a few.

She loved animals in general, but had a real soft spot for cats. Crazy cat lady is probably an understatement. She always donated to her favorite places, L.I.C.K. Cat Rescue and The Blind Cat Association.

She loved doing crafts, making cards, gardening, singing and spending time with her friends and family. If you got a holiday card from her, it was always handmade and looked amazing. She was considered a second mother to many of her children’s friends, opening her doors to them in their time of need. She always loved the holidays, but Halloween was by far her favorite. She would decorate to the max and have well over 100 kids stopping by her house to trick or treat
every year.

She will be greatly missed, by not only her family, but by the many others her kind spirit touched over the years.

Services will be held on her favorite holiday Halloween, Monday, October 31st, 12:00noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Laurel Memorial Park, Egg Harbor Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to: L.I.C.K. Cat Rescue, PO Box 392, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
