Obituary for Joan Van Parys

Joan Van Parys, 60, of Mays Landing, passed away on Wednesday, February 03, 2021 surrounded by her family. Joan was born on March 29, 1960 to Harry and Alice Corey of Bridgeton, NJ.

The definition of Joan was "Independent, intelligent and hardworking, yet extremely stubborn." She was a "I will do it myself" type of woman and that she did. No one could keep Joan in one spot despite their attempts. She loved to travel and meet new people. She would talk to anyone about anything.

Joan graduated from Bridgeton High School, Class of 1978. She went on to become a Human Resource Manager for many well-known companies, such as Wheaton Glass, Johns Manville and Lenox. She was respected by most and feared by many, but loved by all.

Joan was a dedicated mother to Kelly Collins (Kaleel) and Tara Collins-Johnston (Justin). She provided for her daughters with no questions asked. Yet, she still showed them how to be independent women and show strength in everything that comes their way. Joan fell absolutely in love with her granddaughter, Nevaeh Jade, after getting over the initial shock of her new role as "Mom Mom." Despite her fears, she excelled at being the grandparent that Nevaeh could look up to as a role model.

Joan is predeceased by her father, Harry and her husband, George. She will be dearly missed by her mother, Alice; her siblings, Bruce (Lisa), Sharon (John) and Steven (Toni) as well as a host of many other loving relatives, family and friends.
