Obituary for Joyce A. Krohn

Joyce Krohn (nee Liddy), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, left her earthly home for her eternal resting place in heaven on March 25, 2023 surrounded by her loving family and in prayer. She lived her life with dignity, grace, and strength. Her loving, kind, compassionate spirit, and amazingly warm smile will be dearly missed by all.

Born in Philadelphia on February 6, 1943, Joyce came to live most of her 80 years in the quaint town of Mays Landing, NJ. She grew up in Harding Lakes, attended St. Nicholas Elementary School in Egg Harbor City and graduated from Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City. After high school, she worked as a secretary for the Prudential Insurance Company. While raising her children, she was an active classroom volunteer and member of the Home and School Association at their school, St. Vincent de Paul. Later, she became the school secretary and worked for St. Vincent de Paul Regional School for 25 years until her retirement.

Joyce actively lived out her Catholic faith. She was a devoted volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Church in Mays Landing. There, she was a Catechist, taught CCD, and was the Religious Education Coordinator for many years. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and Financial Trustee for her parish. Joyce was also a dedicated and honored Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia.

One of Joyce’s favorite sayings was “Chocolate is our friend”, and she never said no to a little chocolate after every meal. She enjoyed volunteering, her walks with friends, crocheting, ice cream, and everything pink. The beach was her happy place. Her favorite thing most of all was to watch and to cheer on her grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities. Her grandchildren were her greatest gifts here on Earth.

Joyce married her soulmate, John Krohn, on February 8, 1964. Together they created an amazing family that will strive to continue her legacy of grace, faith, and love. She was a devoted and loving mother of Joy (Bill) Riordan, John (Marie) Krohn, and Jill (Artie) Kuppel. She was a doting grandma to Johnny, Carrie, Megan, and Katie Krohn and Annalise Kuppel. They were her pride and joy. Joyce was a beloved sister of Trudy Watson and Joe (Sue) Liddy and sister-in-law to Mary Callahan (Bud) and Ruth (Dick) Moder. She was a cherished aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Joyce was greeted in heaven by her parents Joe & Gertrude (Sis) Liddy and John & Katherine Krohn. Also there to welcome her into eternal life were her beloved sister, Sister Mary Ann Liddy-RSM, Sister Margaret (Babe) Bulfin-RSM, brother-in-law Terry Watson, and many dear friends.

To celebrate her life, family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Mays Landing, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. A private interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In her memory and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Regional School located at 5809 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
