Obituary for Maceo Anthony Bowens
Maceo Anthony Bowens, (aka Moses), was born July 18, 1964 in Vineland, NJ to Essie “Peggy” Bowens and Jimmie Burnett, and raised by Joseph Hayes. He graduated from Oakcrest High School, class of 1982. In 1995 he reconnected with his future wife Rochell Williams and they moved to Philadelphia, PA where they began their life together. In 1998 they were blessed with their daughter Monesha Mariah Bowens. Along with raising their daughter Monesha and his son Shaquille, he also helped raise Rochell’s son Jamaal. Moses and Rochell were blessed to spend 25 years together.
After high school he went on to work at Trump Castle in Atlantic City. He also worked for Caterina Tree Service out of Mizpah, NJ. Later in life he worked at George F. Kempfs Building supplies in Philadelphia, PA where he worked for several years until he got hurt. He later obtained an overnight security position at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA where he worked for 3 years.
Maceo was a handy man and could fix just about anything he was asked to look at. On the block that he lived on; he was the man “Mr. Mo” that all the kids came to when they had issues with their bicycles. Whether they needed air in their tire, a chain to be fixed or a rim to unbend, he would do it with a smile on his face. He was a loving father and family man who did all he could for his kids and his wife. He had such a special relationship with all his siblings and tried his best to stay in touch with each one of them on a regular base. He loved his mother and would call her and talk to her for as long as Peggy wanted to talk. Maceo was known by all around his neighborhood and he would speak to just about anyone and carry on a conversation. His personality shined and he was loved and respected by all.
Maceo loved football and baseball and was a die hard Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. He wore his teams gear proudly whether they won or lost. He enjoyed watching boxing, Sunday afternoon Karate movies, cooking on the grill, sipping on a cold beer, listening to his Sunday morning inspiration programs, and spending time with his wife and kids. Family gatherings were always special to him, he always joked about not remember all the names of the younger nieces and nephews, saying “it’s too many of them to keep up with”. He was not much on fashion, but you would never catch him out without a hat on his head and his dark glasses.
On December 15, 2020 God called for the return of our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and good friend Maceo Anthony Bowens.

He was loved and will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Maceo is predeceased by his father Jimmie Burnett; Stepfather Joseph Hayes; Grandmother Artie Chapman; Mother-in-law Antoinette Williams; Sister Francine Burnett; Grand niece Doneka Bowens; Nephew Malcolm Bowens; Nephew James Burnett Jr., Aunt Emma White Burnett, Grand Aunt Lucille Holloman.
