Obituary for Nancy Ann Dowling
Nancy Ann Dowling, 88 of Mays Landing, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 22, 2023. She is also reunited with her husband of 65 years, Edward James Dowling, Sr. Nancy was born on October 12, 1934, in Presbyterian Hospital, Newark, NJ. She is predeceased by her parents, Andrew F. Gernert and Olive May Gernert (Wheeler), and her sisters Roberta Adams and Sally Gruber.
Nancy grew up in Union, New Jersey and graduated from Union High School in 1952. She played basketball and really enjoyed roller skating. Nancy was married on June 9, 1954, at the First Baptist Church of Union NJ to Edward J. Dowling. They and their four boys moved to Egg Harbor Township, NJ in July of 1969. She was also a member of the Estell Manor Community Church. Nancy was a homemaker most of her married life, but also worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company in Linwood.
Nancy is survived by her four children, Edward J. Dowling Jr. (Christie), William H. Dowling (Yvonne), Robert A. Dowling (Layla) and Jeffrey D. Dowling (Patricia), her sister Carol Nicol, 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 10-11 am, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ, followed by a service at 11:00 am. She will be buried next to the Love of her Life in the Atlantic County Veterans’ Cemetery of Estell Manor, NJ.
