Obituary for Perry Capiak

Perry Capiak, age 63, of Williamstown NJ passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter, and Margaret Capiak of Runnemeade, NJ. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Deborah (Horsey) Capiak, and his brother Pete (Trish) Capiak. He was a devoted father to Ashley (David) Rosemeyer and Derrick (Megan) Capiak. He was a loving grandfather to Tristan and Weston Rosemeyer and Zoey Belle Capiak. He will also be missed by a very large extended family including brother & sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and godsons. He will be deeply missed by his numerous friends, neighbors, campers, State Police co-workers and especially Marie Potenski, a life-long friend to Debbie & Perry.

Perry enlisted in the New Jersey State Police on July 28, 1988, as a proud member of the 111th Class. He retired on August 1, 2013, at the rank of Lieutenant, after 25 years of service. Perry played a vital part in the operation of the Family Business, Winding River Campground where he will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Unity Lodge #96, F & A M.

Perry was most and foremost a family man, enjoying family dinners, gatherings, camping trips, vacations, and day trips with his family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews grow. There wasn’t a baseball or football game, wrestling match or event he missed. Perry enjoyed many outdoor activities including, duck hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and boating. Perry was always available for a story around the campfire. He loved carving decoys with his son Derrick and spoiling his “favorite daughter” Ashley.

Perry was truly one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
