Obituary for Richard "Bucky" Buxton Jr.
RICHARD BUXTON JR., 80 years old, lived in Mays Landing, NJ Richard, known to all as Bucky, passed into the arms of Jesus in Heaven on January 12, 2021 after facing many health issues.
Richard (Bucky) was born to Katherine and Richard Buxton in Summit New Jersey on October 18 1940. He lived in Summit N.J, Northfield NJ, Ocean City NJ and Mays Landing, NJ. Bucky graduated from Pleasantville High School and joined the Navy for two years. After his Navy service Bucky owned a lawn care service while working for the South Jersey Transit Authority and retired in 1997. Bucky brought the magic of Christmas to children of all ages through sharing Santa with them at the Shore Mall and Boscov’s. Bucky shared his Santa love to everyone through events with the Salvation Army, The Atlantic Rescue Mission and Fresh Start Church. Bucky was a Volunteer Fireman with the Northfield Fire Department. Attending church was very important to Bucky and he shared his love for God through being a greeter at Linwood Community Church and Fresh Start Church. Bucky co-led two Bible Study groups including a men’s group that met every Saturday morning. Bucky loved being outside and many of his happiest hours were spent in the beauty of the nature surrounding him. He loved to hunt and fish, garden and tell amazing stories and jokes. Bucky shared his love for his family and friends through his special teasing and pulling pranks.
Richard (Bucky) is survived by his wife Kathleen Smith Buxton, Mays Landing, NJ. Daughter Cheryl Buxton Poole, husband Ronald, son Richard (Richie) Buxton, Former wife Ann Calabria Buxton. Step-Son Frank Cavallo wife Donna, Step Daughter Lisa Cavallo Johnson, husband Tim. Sisters Marilyn Buxton Taggart, and June Buxton Leeds, husband Robert. Grandchildren include Cassandra Gray Ricca, husband Joe, Brandon Gray, Caitlyn Poole Conover, husband Joshua, Christina Cavallo Eckert, husband Robert, Giana Cavallo, Luke Johnson and Grant Johnson. Bucky was blessed with great grand children, Giuseppe, Sofia and Giulia Ricca, Robert and Everett Eckert. Nieces and nephews Vince Taggart, David Taggart, Debbie Taggart, Denise Taggart McDonald, Billy Leeds, wife Tricia and their children Cole and Kate.
Preceding Bucky in death is his Wife Pearl Cavallo Buxton. Mother Katherine Fornichella Hudson, Father Richard Buxton.
Richard’s (Bucky’s) life will be celebrated at an outdoor memorial service that will be scheduled at a later date. Thank you for all your prayers, friendship and love for Bucky.
