Ronald Meischker - 77, of Weymouth Township, NJ, passed away January 30, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Ron was born on April 2, 1945. He grew up in Mays Landing and graduated from Oakcrest High School. Ron worked 43 years at Lenox China, just 2 years shy of retirement, when they closed the factory down. Starting a new career was challenging but Ron rose to the occasion landing a job at Stockton University in the repair shop. Ron’s tenure at Stockton provided him the opportunity to explore new skills and make many new friends.
Ron was most proud of his community service. He spent many years involved with youth sports as a coach, umpire, referee and organizer. One of Ron’s most favorite accomplishments was serving as the Southern New Jersey Assistant District 3 Commissioner of Babe Ruth Baseball.
Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed time spent with friends on the course, especially when he was swinging better than the others. Ron played in a few leagues at the Mays Landing Country Club and placed in local fundraising tournaments on many occasions. Golfing with his grandchildren, especially his eldest grandson Jerry Lee, was one of his most cherished times.
Ron enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, kayaking, canoeing and catching the occasional bullfrog. He found a creative outlet in his workshop where he made many wooden gifts for family and friends. Ron proudly referred to this endeavor as Rough Cutz.
Ron was first and foremost a family man, enjoying family dinners, card games, attending baseball games, vacations and day trips. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow. There wasn’t a show, play, concert, dance recital, game or event he missed.
Ron was always available with words of wisdom and will be remembered as the calming influence especially when emotions got high.
Ron proudly celebrated 35 years as a friend of Bill W.
He is survived by his loving wife Diana Meischker, children: Deneen Meischker-St. Amour, Michelle Reed (Jim), Thomas Reed (Nikki), Joe Reed (Linda) & Rebecca Geese (Jerry Jr) and grandchildren: Jerry Lee, Jessica, Julie, Elena, Samantha, Sierra, Jocelyn, Kaylyn & Joey Jr.
