Obituary for Thomas Dowling Jr.

Thomas Dowling Jr., 37 of Mays Landing, NJ was in a tragic motorcycle accident on Saturday August 6, 2022. He was born on April 1,1985 in Somers Point, NJ to Thomas and Tina Dowling. Better known to everyone as Tom, Tommy and "Little Tom". After graduating from Oakcrest high school in 2003 he went on to get his CDL drivers license. Over the years he worked for various demolition and trucking companies learning the trade and how to operate machinery on a job site. He loved the open road, driving tractor trailers and hauling large equipment. He took great pride in his work and everything he put his mind to. Tommy was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need no matter how big or small the task.

Tommy had many great passions in life. But the biggest one was being a loving and devoted father to his two daughters, Haleigh and Saige. For many years he enjoyed playing on a pool league. He also enjoyed fishing, riding quads and motorcycles. He loved camping, tubing down the river and everything outdoors. He lived life to the fullest and did everything as fast as he could. He always loved holiday get togethers and family dinners especially Moms Chicken Parm. He was friends with everyone and always the life of the party. Everyone who knew Tom, knew he had a heart of gold.

Tommy was predeceased by his Grandmothers, Marie Dowling and Doris Nichols, his aunts Denise Fleck and Catherine Wickward, his uncles James and John Dowling and cousin, Richie Kisby. He is survived by his daughters, Haleigh Marie Dowling - Rance and Saige Jade Dowling, his father Thomas Dowling, step mother Barbara Aiken, his mother Tina Groeber and step father Bob Groeber, sister Danielle Craig and her husband Joe, and step sister Nicole Williamson. He always loved being the goofy and playful uncle to his nieces and nephews, Jayden Shertel, Madison Craig, Jake Groeber, Liam and Summer Williamson. He is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Including his Uncle Tim and Aunt Em with whom he had a very special bond. He also leaves behind Colby Rance, the mother of his daughter, Haleigh with whom he maintained a great friendship with, as well as one of his great friends Mike. As a life long animal lover and someone who would bring home every stray, he leaves behind his most loyal dog, Layla, Mainecoon cat, Duke and bird Spunk.

For everyone that knew Tommy knew that he struggled at various times in his life but over the last month he overcame his addiction and got himself clean. He was as happy and healthy as he had been in a long time. He was getting his life back to where he wanted to be and we are all very proud of what he had accomplished.

For anyone that would like to join us, we will be having a celebration of Tommy's life on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 3-5pm at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, where reflections will be shared at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tommy's memory may be made to assist the family in expenses and to establish a trust fund for his beloved daughters @ https://gofund.me/c1e7763b
