WALID KHALALIN JONES Sr., affectionately known as “Wally” departed this life unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2021. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 17, 1978, to Patricia Jones and Daniel Roberts.

“Wally” as he was called by family and friends, was a very compassionate and respected man who helped a lot of people. He attended local elementary schools in Atlantic City, then Hamilton Township public schools in 1987. Walid received his GED. Through his years of life, Wally attended Saint James Church in Atlantic City and Holy Spirit Non-Denominational Church in Mays Landing where he played the bongos. He was employed in landscaping and asphalt. He enjoyed writing rhymes, cooking, coaching football, and spending time with his family. Wally was known as “the protector” to his family and the “neighborhood hero” to his community. His energy was felt once he entered the room. His presence, energy, and love was one of a kind. He was a hard-worker, mentor, and dedicated coach of 15 years.

There were many highlights in Wally’s life. He enjoyed coaching the Mays Landing Lakers Football Team where he mentored and left a great impact on others. He received a Championship Award with the Lakers (varsity) football team that he cherished with pride and joy. Additionally, rapping was another hobby Wally enjoyed, where he represented Self-Contane (SC) and 19th & the 3rd. Wally’s world revolved around being a grandfather, his grandsons were a huge part of his heart. Wally was genuinely self-made and full of life with an outgoing personality and laugh that was contagious.

Wally was predeceased by: his father, Daniel Roberts, maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Russell Jones, niece, India Jones-Blunt; cousins, Antoine and Nyeka Jones and mother in-law Elizabeth Mack.

He leaves to cherish: his loving wife, Karyn Jones; mother, Patricia Jones; sisters, Zalekia Jones-Blunt (Courtney); and Ulema Jones; one son, Walid Jones Jr.; three daughters, Waleyia, E’monie, and E’nijah Jones; two grandsons, Zakhi Ridley and Tariq Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great aunts and great uncles, cousins, in-laws and a host of close friends, and Lakers family.

Lovingly submitted,
The family
