Obituary for William J. Wilson

William J. “Red” Wilson passed away November 20, 2020 in AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Pomona, NJ after a brief illness related to the Corona virus. Between his birth on July 30, 1927 and his passing, a long and rich life was lived by a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia where he enjoyed playing sports, playing semi-pro football after graduation. Bill was a Sergeant 1st class in the National Guard. After later moving from PA to NJ he enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Bill was a member of Carpenters Union Local 154. Carpentry was his long-long profession and a fine one he was, even building a house which his family lived in for many years. A man with a great sense of humor, he often kept his family and friends convulsed in laughter. Just looking at Bill brought on a chuckle in anticipation of what he would next say.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of seventy-one years, Delphine; four children: Dennis (Belva), Deborah (Glenn), Mark (Jenny), and Alan (Janice); nine grandchildren: Jason, Tara, Heather, Tanner, Shannon, Will, Danny, Eric, Kenny, Samantha, and Kimberly; two step-grandchildren, Laura and Melissa; and ten great-grandchildren. A kind and gracious man, Bill will long be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers contributions will be accepted by The Presbyterian Church, 6001 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
